Simone Brathwaite
Simone visits Singapore and Malaysia! Simone wanted to visit Asia to gain an understanding of the common business practices in Southeast Asia and learn about the diversity of cultures within the region. And due to her own entrepreneurial aspirations, she also had a deep interest in learning about how spirituality and religion plays a role within business.
Charles Stewart
Charles Stewart has recently been in India helping to expand an education initiative using technology. Read below as Charles describes his experience.
“For the last six weeks, I trained the founding teachers & principals for Bridge International Academies expansion to India. It’s a super interesting model, where lessons are scripted by master teachers in Boston then delivered via a $40 tablet in 300 schools across 4 countries. The principal has a smart phone and receives the updates daily and then syncs with the teachers tablets. They assess a standard every two weeks and the principal takes photos of each student’s assessment and then the analytics team back in Boston analyzes the data. A year of education in the model costs between $80 and $140, depending on the country. Our India expansion was funded by Gates, Zuckerberg, and the IFC. I’ve attached some photos below of our founding teachers, some of our first students, opening the first academy, and marketing the school to parents.”
